Best Tasting Protein Bars Of Today

By Leigh Bean

Energy bar was once upon a time seen only with bodybuilders or gymnasts. Today, it is a huge phenomenon that is found at every gas station, on every flight, with office going folks and in vending machines. These best tasting protein bars are a new fashion fad among the general public who want something to keep them healthy and quench their hunger.

Majority of protein-bites are filled to the brim with nutrients and energy. However, a lot of flavoring agents used in them is undecipherable to the common man. Moreover, they are just as loaded with sugar as they are with proteins and nutrients.

There are many flavored energy bites available in the market but for this article we have selected the top four. They are Thick Thin Creamy Peanut, Met-RX Big 100 bar, Detour Carmel Nut Energy Bar and Clif Builders Cocoa Dipped. All of them are not just loaded with good nutrients but also provide a pleasing taste.

Priced at around $3, the Met-Rx Big100 is supposed to mimic the taste of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Well, in reviews, it was observed that this bar had the second highest protein levels serving out 28 grams per bar. However, it was also high in sugars, carbs, and calories with very little fiber. The sugar used here came out of high fructose corn syrup. Tasters found that this bar had a varying degree of sweetness. Some said that it did resemble chocolate chip cookie dough while others said that it was closer to the taste of soft graham crackers. A few even felt that it had a sort of metallic taste. The texture too was not something that made many happy as they described it as sort of gooey.

The Crips Clif Builder Cocoa Dipped Bar costs $2 and is supposed to be the most nutritious of all energy-bars. In fact, reviews said that it had manageable amounts of carbs, fiber and sugar with plenty of proteins. This meant that it tastes good enough without sacrificing on the energy content. What tasters had to say about this bar also proves the fact that it beats all other energy bites hands down. Many said that it was like eating a candy thanks to the crunchy and crackling nature of the treat while a few did complain about the dryness associated with very little peanut butter flavoring. Overall, it fared better than other test bites.

While the ThinkThin Creamy Butter bar was supposed to be gluten and sugar free, it did not do all that well in taste reviews. Yes, it is nutritional and at $2 cheaper than many other bites but its taste is a letdown. Anyone who has tasted it will vouch for its yucky taste although the texture is slightly better.

The Carmel, Detour Butter bar was found to be more nutritional than the Clif Builder. It had over 30 grams of proteins and did not boast of much carbs or other content. The only issue people had with it was its higher sodium content. But, this was not something that bothered many thanks to its lower sugar content.

All those who had tasted the Detour Carmel bar felt like they were having a candy with zero sugar. In fact, it got the onus of the best tasting protein bars. This was because of a crunchy and chewy texture with a superb before and after taste.
